ein Stück Cardstock, 12" x 5 1/2"
ein Stück Tranpsparentfolie
Kleber, Schere, Falzbein
a piece of cardstock, 12" x 5 1/2"
a piece of a transparency sheet
scissors, glue, bonefolder
Place the cardstock on your scoring board and score at 3", 5 5/8" and 6 3/8".
Cut a strip of cardstock measuring 1 1/4" x 9" and score it at 1/4" and 1".
Then make little v-shaped cuts at the on both sides.
Now it´s time to make the holes for the candes. How many and which size is totally up to you. Just make sure you leave enough room between the candles so the cardstock area in between isn´t becoming too thin which means it´s also getting soft and not stabil anymore. Remember that this area holds the candles.
If you are lucky enough to have a matching punch for the thickness of your candles use it! There are so many different candles out there but of course there can´t be the perfect punch for each size. I drew the circles to the back of the cardstock and then used my scissors to cut the holes (my candles are just too thinn).
Now it´s time to decorate the cake. I used FunLiner to make dots that look like cream puffs, you can also use Puffy Velvet or snow liner. You have to heat up the FunLiner and Puffy Velvet to make it pufff - take care that you don´t burn the paper.
Now it´s time to make the box for the candles. I put 7 candles in my box - just because I messed things up a bit when doing my measurements. The measurements written down here are for a box that holds 6 candles.
Cut a piece of cardstock measuring 3 1/4" x 4 1/4". Aligne the shorter side of the cardstock with the top of your scoring board and score at 1/2", 7/8", 2 3/8" and 2 3/4". Turn the cardstock 90° and score at 1/2", 7/8", 3 3/8" and 3 3/4".
Now cut the edges/corners as shown on the picture:
Now you can cover your box with designer´s paper and punch a window in the middle. I also added a piece of transparency to the back of the window.
5 3/8". The shorter side will be aligned with the front/back.
Once you´re happy with the result mark the place where the middle of the box edges will be. Then make a slit with your cutter there and pull a piece of ribbon through them. Like this you won´t see the glued down ends of the ribbon when the box is empty.
Fold the box and put some sticky strip to the bottom parts. You can decide if you only want to glue down the two sides of your box or if you - like I did here - also want to glue down one of the shorter sides.
Wenn Ihr möchtet, könnt Ihr beim Aufkleben des Innenteils und der unteren Kartenfront ein weiteres Stück Band mit einkleben, mit dem Ihr die ganze Karte verschließen könnt.
Now it´s time to decorate the front of the card. Make sure you are not glueing down any element to the upper AND lower side of the scored line because you won´t be able to put up the card then.
If you want to you can put some ribbon between the card base and the front and inside designer´s paper which you can use to close the entire card.
Here´s another version of the same card: an advent wreath card:
Und jetzt wünsche ich Euch viel Spaß beim Nachbasteln!
Now have fun making your own birthday cake cards!
